Fawehinmism: Emulate Ikeja NBA, Activist Sulaiman Tells Ibadan NBA On Human Rights

A human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman,has enjoined the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan Branch to emulate its Ikeja

Branch counterpart on human rights,saying that the level of human rights  including economic right violations have been enormous in Oyo State,especially the city of Ibadan which is the capital of Oyo State by the security agents and political office holders.

Comrade Sulaiman who was a victim of the illegal arrest and unlawful detention alongside eleven(11) Artisans recently in Ibadan by the Seyi Makinde led administration for leading the Artisan(Mechanics) to organize a peaceful protest to resist the plan by Seyi Makinde crony,one Seye Famojuro from Ilesa,Osun State to take over the Federal Road setback leased to the artisans by the Federal government through its agency, Federal Housing Authority to be using for their Workshop temporarily, located at opposite Gbagi Market,Ibadan.
It would be recalled that the State Police Command under the Commissioner of Police,Ayodele Sonubi has been the tool being used by the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Chieftain,Seye Famojuro to clamp down on the peaceful protesters(Artisans) in the State.
Speaking on the commemoration of this year 2025 Annual Fawehinmism to celebrate the ideals and philosophy of the late Legal Luminary,Chief Gani Fawehinmi,SAN,both in human rights activism and legal profession,while receiving the visitors on Wednesday at the Agodi Correctional Centre waiting for his bail application to be heard by the State High Court,Ibadan Judicial Division.
Sulaiman who is a renown human rights activist and Executive Chairman,Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ),urged the Lawyers in the Ibadan branch of the NBA to rise to the occasion of defending the fundamental rights of the masses in Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole,adding that innocent Nigerians were languishing in police custody and Correctional Centre without trial with no justifications.
CHRSJ boss alleged the Police in Oyo State under CP Ayodele Sonubi of complicity in congesting the Nigeria Correctional Centres in the State with illegal arrest and unlawful detention of innocent Nigeria masses over frivolous and trump-up charges.
According to the statement issued by the CHRSJ Media Office and signed by its Assistant General Secretary(AGS),Pastor Micheal Agassi which was made available to newsmen on Wednesday,insisted that the human rights violations have pervaded the clime of Oyo State in general by gagging the inalienable freedom of speech and expression guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution as amended.
Speaking further on Fawehinmism, Sulaiman who described late Chief Gani Fawehinmi as an institution and phenomenon whose memory would continue be lingered forever in the memory of Nigeria and Africa people like late sage,Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the blessed memory.
Sulaiman then congratulated those who passed through Gani Fawehinmi School of Thought on both Legal profession and
human rights activism,including; Mr. Tayo Oyetibo,SAN,Professor Omotoye Olorode,Barrister Femi Aborisade,Osagie Obayuwana,Kaduna State Governor,Mallam Uba Sanni,Comrade Amitolu Shittu, Barrister Alfred Adegoke and host of others.
Comending and appreciating those who spared their time out of tight schedule to grace the occasion of 21st anniversary of Fawehinmism held at the Airport Hotel,Ikeja,Lagos State on Wednesday,including; former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) and current Emir of kano,Alhaji Lamido Sanusi Mohammed II, former Dean,Faculty of Law,Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife,Professor Ademola Popoola,Dr. Wahab Shittu,SAN and host of others,to share their thought on survival of the Nigeria economy which was biting the masses of the country harder presently.
