At least 45 Palestinians were killed in the latest Israeli airstrikes on Monday, as the siege of northern Gaza reached its 100th day. According to Hamas officials, ceasefire talks with Israeli negotiators, which were taking place in Qatar, are progressing positively.
Medical sources reported that the number of casualties has sharply increased over the past week, with Israel continuing its heavy bombing of northern Gaza neighbourhoods.
In addition to Gaza, the Israeli air force also carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, where 10 victims have been confirmed dead, according to Lebanese civil defense sources.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, who was detained by Israeli forces during an attack on the hospital last month, is currently being held in Israel’s Ofer prison, according to a non-governmental organisation.
The latest airstrikes have raised concerns among negotiators, with experts suggesting that these attacks may be a strategy by Israeli forces to inflict more casualties on Palestinians before a ceasefire is reached.
Geopolitical experts and human rights organisations have reported that 90% of Gaza has been destroyed following the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7.
Since the start of the conflict, at least 46,586 Palestinians have been killed, and 109,731 have been injured. On October 7, over 1,100 people in Israel were killed, and more than 200 were taken captive.
