THE Kano State Executive Council has approved N1.7 billion to settle utility costs for major water facilities across the state.
This is contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa in Kano on Wednesday.
Dawakin-Tofa said the approval reaffirmed the state government commitment to ending water scarcity.
He explained that the fund covered operational cost for electricity, diesel, and petrol at the Greater Kano Water Works and the State Water Board Headquarters for the first quarter of 2025.
He reiterated Gov. Yusuf’s commitment to comprehensive water sector reforms, including infrastructure upgrade and energy sustainability.
He added that the state government planned to implement a strategic water master plan and environmental sustainability in managing water resources.
