HON. Barka Iliyasu Yidawi, the Councilor of Marama Kidang Ward, Hawul local government area of Borno state has fulfilled his electioneering campaign promises by sponsoring the JAMB registration fees for 30 students from various schools in Marama community.
This initiative aims to support students in their pursuit of higher education, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent them from reaching their academic goals.
The beneficiaries who were selected based on merit include 10 students from Government Secondary School (GSS) Marama, while five (5) students from Birma International School in Marama town.
Others who also benefitted from the gesture were five (5) students from Jikilama Private School as well as 10 other slots for graduates of previous years who have not yet sat for the JAMB examination
This sponsorship is a significant step toward ensuring that more according to the Lawmaker, the students in the community are given the opportunity to take the next step in their academic journey.
The initiative is part of the Councillor’s commitment to empowering students through education.
The sponsorship ceremony was attended by distinguished community members, including the Vice Principal of GSS Marama, the Proprietor of Birma International School, Mr. Yamta Birma A Mshelbwala, the Proprietor of Jikilama Private School Marama, Mr. Ayuba Adamu Mbaya, the Village Head of Pakilama, Lawan Moses Ndahi, Bulama Hamman G. Chiroma, former Vice Chairman Hawul Local Government Hon Mdahyalya Buba Yirngau, APC ward Chairman, staff members from the impacted schools, and other community leaders.
“I am honored to fulfill my promise to these bright young minds.
“Education is the foundation of success, and by supporting these students, I am helping to unlock their potential. This sponsorship is not just about paying fees; it is about providing these students with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and achieve greatness. I encourage them to take this opportunity seriously and to remain committed to their studies. Together, we can build a brighter future for Marama/Kidang ward.”
In his remarks, the Village Head of Pakilama, Lawan Moses Ndahi commended Hon. Yidawi for his dedication to the future of youth in the community.
“By this gesture to the students sit for the JAMB exam, he is giving them the chance to further their education and realize their aspirations.
“This initiative is a wonderful example of how leadership and community support can make a real difference in the lives of young people.” The Traditional ruler stated.
Also in her remarks, one the respected woman in the community, Mrs. Pati Maiva said: “Today is a proud moment for all of us. The sponsorship provided by Hon. Yidawi is a significant investment in the future of our students. It is a reminder of the power of community support and how it can help our youth achieve their full potential.
“I encourage all the recipients to make the most of this opportunity and work hard toward their academic and professional dreams”. End
