THE Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has deployed engineers to repair the flood-ravaged area in Osogbo ahead of the Sallah operations.
The NRC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kayode Opeifa, confirmed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.
Opeifa noted that the site, located at km 294+12 poles, Oke-Onitea area in osogbo, suffered a washout following downpour of May 17.
According to him, the remedial work is critical to maintaining safe and interrupted train operations for passengers that will travel to Osogbo, Ilorin and Minna corridors during the Eid festive season.
Opeifa expressed regret over the washout, but reassured passengers that all necessary steps were e being taken to bring relief to the corporation’s esteemed passengers and ease train movement before the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“The NRC management also called on residents of Oke-Onitea and other communities along the rail corridors in osogbo to refrain from dumping refuse indiscriminately.
“Such practices contribute to culvert blockages and rail infrastructure damage.
“The corporation reiterated its commitment to delivering safe, customer-focused rail services to the Nigerian public,” he said.
